American Revolution Reenactment - Huntington Beach

The British are coming!
The Huntington Beach Historical Society is proud to host this reenactment of the American Revolution in Huntington Beach Central Park, behind the library. Come experience the founding of our nation with some of the country's finest living history presenters. Spain's role in the independence of the United States was part of its dispute over colonial supremacy with the Kingdom of Great Britain. Spain declared war on Britain as an ally of France, itself an ally of the American colonies, and provided supplies and munitions to the American forces. Come by our tent and learn more! As always these events are absolutely free to the public.

The Mission will host Capistrano Lights 2018: a nightly tree lighting at 5:00 p.m. The Mission’s new nightly lighting and music program will be held from December 2 through January 6, 2019. Guests must be on the grounds before closing at 5 p.m. to enjoy the lighting experience. After the Mission closes, guests can take their complimentary downtown San Juan Capistrano map and discover the historic downtown district with plenty of holiday shopping, dining, and wine tasting all season long.

Casa Romantica will showcase some of the most significant holdings of The Irvine Museum Collection at the University of California, Irvine in Casa Romantica’s stunning Spanish Revival exhibition space and cultural center by the sea. The Idle Hour captures the beauty of the Southern California landscape as it was painted by the West Coast’s most renowned plein air artists between 1850 and 1930, and includes works by Joseph Kleitsch, Colin Campbell Cooper, Arthur Rider, Franz Bischoff, Granville Redmond, and Laguna Art Museum co-founder Anna Hill.

The exhibition, which is on view from November 9, 2018 through March 10, 2019, is a prominent collection of California Impressionist art. Among The Irvine Museum Collection at the University of California, Irvine, select works will be hung at Casa Romantica featuring still-lifes, landscapes and human subjects. Some of the exhibition’s highlights include works from Joseph Kleitsche, Colin Campbell, Aurthur Rider, Franz Bischoff and John Rich.

Founded in 1998 by a group of Irvine residents to help promote understanding and build harmony within Irvine’s many diverse cultures, the day-long Global Village Festival is now Irvine’s signature event, featuring more than 100 performances on five stages; international cuisine and food from more than 50 restaurants; an international marketplace filled with unique crafts and textiles; interactive, educational and entertaining cultural displays, demonstrations, and performances; and an international village just for kids.

More than 40 local restaurants and gourmet food trucks serve up samples of regional and international specialties from boba smoothies, miso soup, falafel, Mexican fusion tacos and German pretzels to Japanese dumplings, Hawaiian shaved ice and the all-American bacon-wrapped hot dog. Please be prepared with cash for food and beverage purchases.

It is important to us that this event remain free to our guests and without the generous donations from our sponsors we would not be able to accomplish that. Located at the beautiful Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park at SJC guests can dance to local band the Kelly Family on the largest outdoor dance floor in Orange County, have dinner hosted by local food trucks, shop with our vendors, or support the evening through the raffle and silent auction.

  • Smart Art: Egg-xtravagant Eggs – Easter eggs are a symbol of the season. Visit us to decorate your very own egg utilizing a variety of colorful mediums and materials.
  • Bunny Meet N’ Greet: Make sure to capture the magic of the holiday by taking a photo with Mr. Bunny! He will be hopping in throughout the day to meet and greet little ones. Make sure to say hello to receive a special Easter treat!
  • Growing Up Great Games (11:00am): An Egg-cellent Adventure await little ones! Help them solve the riddles and find the (paper) Easter eggs hidden throughout the city. Turn in your completed egg hunt for an Easter surprise.
  • Music & Movement (3:30pm): It’s time to do the Easter Bunny Hop. This hop is sure to get your little trainee Easter Bunny’s rabbit feet dancing!

The parade promptly begins at 10 AM with a route along Pacific Coast Highway beginning at Selva Road and ending at Golden Lantern in Dana Point, approximately 1 mile. FREE shuttle service to and from Harbor parking lots to the parade viewing area will be available beginning one hour (9 AM) from the parade start time.
