In 1973, The City of Orange was looking for ideas to celebrate its one hundredth year. Inspired by the Orange Street Fair of 1910 it was decided that for their centennial celebration, Orange would have the Orange International Street Fair (OISF). The Fair was so successful that it has become an annual tradition during Labor Day weekend. The Fair is located near Plaza Park in the historic downtown district.
Every year the City of Dana Point hosts one of the best firework shows in Southern California. Gather the family and friends and look towards the skies over Doheny State Beach and experience this patriotic extravaganza. FREE bus service from 10:00 am to 11:00 pm to Dana Point Harbor. Bus pick-up to the harbor located on Golden Lantern, north side between Acapulco and Stonehill, with limited parking at Dana Hills High School and surrounding streets in that area. The City fireworks show will originate from Monument Point at Heisler Park. The Monument Point area will be closed all day on the 4th of July. Beginning at approximately 5 p.m., the area of Heisler Park from the Rock Bench at Myrtle Street to the Rockpile Beach stairs at Jasmine Street will be closed to the public to allow for fireworks preparation. City trolleys will operate under a modified schedule, the Coastal Route will run from 9:30am to 7pm and Canyon Route from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The tradition began on July 4, 1904, when Huntington Beach commemorated the arrival of the first electric passenger train linking the area with Long Beach and Los Angeles. The Board of Trade, a forerunner of the Chamber of Commerce, sponsored this first event, bringing 50,000 people to town to join in the day's celebration.
Bike parade begins at 9 am at Grand Avenue and travels down Aliso Viejo Parkway to the lawn next to 26800 Aliso Viejo Parkway for a free community festival featuring carnival games, giant slide, obstacle course, rock wall, face painting, a DJ & game master!
Parade participants are encouraged to decorate bikes, scooters, wagons and strollers, and all dogs must be leashed. Street closures are planned from 8 am to noon that day: Aliso Viejo Parkway between Pacific Park and Vantis with event parking access from Pacific Park Drive only Grand between Wood Canyon and Vantis.
