The public is encouraged to get outdoors and enjoy the magic of wildflower season. With 7-day self-guided access, the City of Newport Beach’s Buck Gully Reserve and the City of Irvine’s Bommer Canyon are a great place to start your wildflower adventure. Just be sure to stay on the trails and leave the wildflowers where you find them. Irvine Ranch Conservancy also offers a full calendar of guided activities and events designed to explore the wildflowers on the open spaces this spring.

OC Parks, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and Angler Chronicles host the annual Kids' Fishing Derby at the North Lake at Mile Square Regional Park. Kids ages 6 to 15 fish for free at the Fishing Derby and compete to win prizes for finalists and winners in different age groups.
ScotsFestival honors nearly fifty Scottish clans & vendors throughout the weekend with professional and amateur competitions in piping, drumming, massed bands, darts, Highland dancing, and the brand new North American Professional Highland athletics. With falconry, sheep herding and a large array of other activities, guests will have culture at every turn!
The Dana Point Turkey Trot will be held from 6 – 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 22. Registered participants can walk, jog, or run a 5K or 10K through picturesque Dana Point Harbor and Doheny State Beach. Kids ages 4-12 can also join the fun during the Kids’ Gobble Wobble race. Parents are allowed and encouraged to join their children during the Gobble Wobble race without prior registration. All participants will receive a shirt prior to the race and will be awarded a medal after crossing the finish line. Online registration closes November 19.

OC Parks invite the community to ride the trails and test their luck at the Whiting Ranch Poker Ride. Participants will ride mountain bikes through a course of adventurous trails while navigating through checkpoints along the way. After reaching all checkpoints, riders will be dealt a poker hand to compete for various Cygolite prizes. A Jax Bicycles gift certificate will be awarded to the rider with the best hand!

One of the oldest events, the roots of Saddle Bronc Riding reach back to the Old West when Ranch Hands would show off their style riding unbroken horses. In the modern event the rider attempts to win style points while staying on a bucking horse for a maximum of eight seconds. Judges consider the horse’s bucking action, the cowboy’s spurring action and his control of the horse.
Orange County Soccer Club's inaugural Soccer and Brews Beerfest. The Orange County Soccer club takes on the Swope Park Rangers. Enjoy unlimited tastings from some of the country's top craft breweries and more! Drink unlimited beer tastings and watch some soccer.

San Diego horse racing takes place where the "turf meets the surf" at the Del Mar Racetrack. Fans flock to the track each summer to wager on their favorite horses during the popular, annual Del Mar Thoroughbred Club racing season, mid-July - early-September. Be part of the magic and nostalgia of this long-time horse race tradition dating back to 1937 when Bing Crosby greeted the first guests, and Seabiscuit won by a nose in the infamous race in 1938.
107th Annual Huntington Beach 4th of July Parade – The parade will march down the streets of downtown Huntington Beach. The largest Independence Day parade west of the Mississippi River features more than 300 entries including bands, floats, local dignitaries, equestrian groups, film and television celebrities and community groups. The parade will take place on Main Street from Pacific Coast Highway to Yorktown Ave. Entertainment on the pier will continue until 9 p.m., when the 4th of July fireworks show begins.
Independence Day is one of the best days to come to the San Diego County Fair, because they pull out all the stops with food, fireworks, entertainment and more. The Fair will close on Tuesday, July 4.
The 40th Annual Run In The Parks will take place on Wednesday, July 4th at the Crown Valley Community Park at the Laguna Niguel YMCA. It’s a little bit of country surrounded by the City of Orange, where race participants pass by grazing horses and some unusual animals. The 5k welcomes runners and walkers off all abilities and ages from 3 to over 80 years old. It is a fun way for families to begin their 4th of July day of celebrations
